Illustrator, Animator and Freelance Artist

I’m Sami and I’m a freelance animation background artist and illustrator who has recently acquired a Master’s in World-building and Creature design and a Bachelor’s in 2D Animation. I’ve been working within indie and student animation projects for 2 years now and have had the opportunity to work as a background artist for two successful projects, “SuperStoned” and “The Perfect Meal”, which won the RTS Yorkshire Student Awards for “Best Student Animation”. Alongside my Animation work,I travel around the country selling my character illustrations at art markets and comic conventions such as Thought Bubble, Megacon, Animecon, Hyper Japan, MCM and more. Through my work I’d like to showcase interesting story telling using colour and whimsical symbology that highlight romantic experiences of queer characters. I enjoy bringing nostalgic and alternative aesthetics in my work to connect to young queer people from all backgrounds.
